Ray has worked within the health and social care filed since 1993 and is a former National Development Director of the UK’s largest substance misuse provider of community and criminal justice interventions.
He is a former member of the UK Anti Drugs Co-ordination Unit (UKADCU), advising on the implementation of Government’s Drug Strategy.
Ray has extensive knowledge of staff and workforce and service user development and started the UK’s first Arrest Referral Scheme in 1993.
Shahroo provides training and consultancy services for Emerging Horizons.
She is experienced in delivering therapeutic interventions across a range of community, clinical and criminal justice settings and has worked alongside organisations including NHS, Ministry of Justice and MIND.
Her previous frontline work as a Criminal Justice Lead in London saw her managing ‘prolific and priority offenders’ alongside probation services; gaining experience in how best to motivate highly resistant clients who were required by law to engage with substance misuse treatment.
In addition to running a private practice in London, Shahroo regularly speaks at national conferences and is called upon to comment on best practice in the field of behavior change. Shahroo’s work has been featured in The Telegraph, Drink and Drugs News, The Pool, Red Magazine and BBC Radio 1.
Shahroo is committed to sharing the motivational tools used in drug and alcohol treatment with the general population by developing evidence-based programs for personal and professional development.
